No. This is a non-insurance based medical practice. We do not bill any health insurances, Medicare, or MediCal. All services are out-of-pocket expenses. Payment accepted includes all major credit, debit, FSA and HSA cards.

Do you prescribe compounded GLP-1s?

Can prescription medications help if diet and exercise are not enough?

The foundation for weight loss is lifestyle, especially diet and exercise. If you have optimized these, addressed other pillars of lifestyle (sleep, stress management), optimized any medical conditions that impact weight, and eliminated or changed medications that lead to weight gain then, yes, a prescription medication can help your weight loss. FDA-approved medications for weight management are adjunctive therapy (meaning that they are to be used in conjunction or along with following a structured lifestyle change plan/program) for improving your weight and your health, if you have medical conditions affected by increased weight.

Why does fibromyalgia make it harder to lose weight?

Fibromyalgia results in pain involving the entire body. This pain can be a limiting factor to doing exercise as part of a weight loss program. In addition, the pain from this condition can lead to depression in some people. The depressed mood presents a challenge with initiating and consistently engaging in lifestyle changes for weight loss.

Can weight loss help reduce fibromyalgia symptoms such as pain, fatigue, or brain fog?

Pain can improve with weight loss. There is less inflammatory production from fat tissue. Less inflammation leads to less fibromyalgia pain. Fatigue and brain fog can improve. Weight loss can result in improved insulin sensitivity and utilization of glucose, the energy for the cell. In addition, a healthy, nutrient-rich diet for weight loss can provide improvements in energy.

Can GLP-1 medication support weight loss in patients with fibromyalgia who struggle with activity?

Weight loss is primarily driven by dietary/nutrition changes – it accounts for about 75% of the weight loss. GLP-1 medications, in combination with lifestyle changes, can lead to impactful weight loss – about 15-18% weight loss reported at one year in clinical trials. The weight loss and lifestyle changes would all support a person's goal to improve their fibromyalgia symptoms.

Why am I not losing weight even though I'm eating healthy and exercising?

The science behind losing weight involves much more than just eating less and moving more (e.g. lifestyle, behavior, hormones, gut microbiome, weight disrupters, medical conditions, medications, and numerous physiological pathways). Consider: quality of your diet, whether you've reduced processed foods and liquid calories, if you're eating the right amount of calories (500 calorie deficit from BMR), consistency in logging food, adequate exercise (150 min moderate or 75 min vigorous per week plus strength training), and whether you're in the fat burning heart rate zone (70-80% of max heart rate). Sleep and stress management also play important roles.

Could a medical condition be preventing me from losing weight?

Medical conditions that can impact weight loss include: Sleep apnea, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Hypothyroidism, and Cushing's syndrome.

诊所简介

GEM Medical Weight Care in Riverside, CA offers semaglutide, tirzepatide & liraglutide weight loss programs via telehealth with obesity medicine specialist D...

GEM Medical Weight Care in Riverside, California, provides physician-supervised weight management programs led by Dr. Cydney Osano, M.D., MPH, a board-certified specialist holding Diplomate status with both the American Board of Preventive Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Osano’s dual board certifications reflect specialized training in obesity as a chronic disease and in preventing weight-related complications including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome. The clinic serves patients throughout California via telehealth consultation, enabling access to medical weight management without geographic barriers within the state.

The clinic’s treatment protocols center on GLP-1 receptor agonist peptide therapies including semaglutide, liraglutide, and tirzepatide—medications that work by mimicking incretin hormones to regulate appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve glycemic control. Semaglutide and tirzepatide have demonstrated significant weight reduction outcomes in clinical trials, while liraglutide offers an established option for patients requiring diabetes management alongside weight loss. Dr. Osano prescribes these peptides as part of comprehensive programs that address the underlying metabolic, hormonal, and behavioral factors contributing to obesity. Treatment plans are individualized based on medical history, current medications, comorbid conditions such as diabetes or fibromyalgia, and patient-specific goals. The clinic also provides bariatric surgery support for patients preparing for or recovering from surgical weight loss procedures, ensuring continuity of medical management during critical transition periods.

Dr. Osano’s background in preventive medicine and public health (MPH) informs her approach to chronic disease management, particularly for patients whose weight intersects with conditions like type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and chronic pain syndromes including fibromyalgia. The clinic addresses women’s health concerns that frequently overlap with weight management, including perimenopause and menopause-related metabolic changes, hormonal weight gain, and the increased cardiovascular risk that accompanies the menopausal transition. Lifestyle medicine principles guide the clinic’s programming, integrating evidence-based nutrition counseling, physical activity recommendations tailored to individual mobility and fitness levels, sleep optimization, and stress management strategies. This multifactorial approach recognizes that sustainable weight management requires addressing behavioral patterns, environmental factors, and physiological regulation simultaneously.

Patients begin with a comprehensive telehealth consultation during which Dr. Osano reviews medical history, current medications, previous weight loss attempts, laboratory results, and specific health concerns. Initial assessments typically include discussion of metabolic markers, screening for contraindications to peptide therapy, and establishing baseline measurements for tracking progress. Follow-up visits occur at regular intervals to monitor response to treatment, adjust peptide dosing, address side effects, and modify lifestyle interventions as needed. The telehealth format allows for flexible scheduling and eliminates travel requirements, which can be particularly beneficial for patients managing chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia or those with mobility limitations. Dr. Osano provides ongoing medical supervision throughout the treatment course, ensuring patient safety and optimizing outcomes through continuous clinical oversight.

GEM Medical Weight Care differentiates itself through Dr. Osano’s specialized obesity medicine training and her integration of preventive medicine principles into weight management protocols. The clinic’s focus on chronic disease prevention and management means that treatment extends beyond weight reduction to address the metabolic, cardiovascular, and endocrine consequences of obesity. For California residents seeking medically supervised peptide therapy with a board-certified obesity medicine specialist, the clinic offers accessible telehealth services that combine pharmaceutical intervention with evidence-based lifestyle modification, creating a comprehensive framework for long-term weight management and metabolic health improvement.
