About BPC-157
BPC-157, short for Body Protection Compound 157, is a synthetic pentadecapeptide: a chain of fifteen amino acids derived from a partial sequence of a protective protein found in human gastric juice. It is one of the most widely studied peptides in preclinical research, and one of the very few that remains stable in gastric acid, which is why it appears so often in the published literature.
Research interest sits mainly around tissue repair. Animal studies have examined its relationship with tendon, ligament and muscle fibroblast activity, gastrointestinal mucosal integrity, and new blood vessel formation, with published work pointing at the VEGFR2 signalling pathway and modulation of the nitric oxide system as areas of investigation.
Where the evidence sits:
the overwhelming majority of BPC-157 literature is animal and in vitro work. There are no completed large scale human clinical trials, and it holds no medicines licence in the UK or anywhere else. It is supplied here strictly as a laboratory research chemical.
